Governing Body
Welcome to the Governors' page
Governance
We are part of RISEMAT, a Church of England Multi-Academy Trust whose directors are responsible for all aspects of governance for every school across the Trust. The Board of Directors delegate certain key responsibilities for governance to officers of the Trust, local and cluster governing committees. RISEMAT’s scheme of delegation may be seen by following the link below:
Local Arrangements
Tugby have a dedicated local governance committee. Largely advisory in nature, this committee is a de facto subcommittee of the trust board. Details of how this committee functions can be found in the terms of reference document below:
Our chair is Mrs Alyson Rees, who may be contacted via office@tugby.risemat.co.uk
A Message from The Chair of Governor
Thank you for visiting our Governors' page.
As Governors, we aim to support Tugby School's vision "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" John 10:10, enabling children to flourish and succeed.
We do this by working positively with the Rise Trust, Executive Head, Head of School, teachers and support staff in promoting academic excellence, providing a rich range of learning experiences and highest quality pastoral care.
Tugby School is a valued part of our village community and Governors encourage the positive interactions which make this happen.
If you would like to know how you can help us, do not hesitate to contact me.
Alyson Rees

What does a School Governor do?
Effective governing bodies work in close partnership with the headteacher and RISEMAT in making decisions. Our governors are part of the wider trust board with delegated responsibility to support in:
- being involved in the planning the future direction of the school;
- promoting high standards of educational attainment;
- ensuring targets are set for pupil achievement;
- taking general responsibility for the conduct of the school;
- making sure that the school provides for all its pupils, including those with special educational needs;
- in our church school, foundation governors are expected to help preserve and develop the school’s Christian character.
The governing committee’s formal work and decision-making is undertaken in meetings.
The governing body is made up of:
- parent governors
- staff representatives
- Co-opted governors (members of the local community appointed by the governing body)
- foundation governors (appointed by the relevant religious body)
- trust governors (appointed by Rise Multi Academy Trust Board)

Governing Body Biographies
Alyson Rees
When I retired after a career as a teacher, headteacher and teacher trainer, I joined Tugby School's local governance committee and went on to become Chair of Governors. I see my role as supporting the School and Rise Multi Academy Trust in providing the school pupils with the highest quality education, enabling them to live life to the full. As a local resident, I support the school as an important part of the community, and help to foster the relationship and interactions that make this happen.
