Class teachers play a pivotal role in providing care and nurture of children within a strong pastoral system. Teachers are adults to whom children go to for guidance and support, and pupils' personal and social development is further reinforced through PSHE lessons.
Class teachers are also House Leaders and this enables them to create a 'family' structure within the House with children from Reception age to Year 6 which encourages friendships to develop and mutual respect to thrive.
The close working partnership between parents and class teachers helps children to understand that there is a shared pastoral responsibility between home and school. Class teachers make themselves available to parents at the start and end of each day and the homework diary allows good communication to be maintained.
